Delta Government Condemns Ritual Killing, Calls for Lawful Action
The Delta State Government has strongly condemned the use of human sacrifice during the recent Otokutu festival, describing the act as barbaric and criminal. The incident involved the use of Paulinus Aka, also known as “Easy Boutique,” for ritual purposes.
In a statement issued by Udoka Emmanuel of the Security Department in the Governor’s Office, the government lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Police and the Delta State Security system in apprehending some of the culprits responsible for the heinous act. While acknowledging that some suspects are still at large, Udoka urged the public to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their investigations without interference.
“We give God all the glory for using the Nigerian Police and Delta State Security system to unravel the culprits. Though some are still at large, I plead with the family, friends of the deceased, and Otokutu youths not to take the law into their hands,” Udoka said.
He further assured the public that the state government will deal decisively with anyone attempting to use the arrests as an excuse to perpetrate arson or other criminal activities.
“The use of human sacrifice has become obsolete and is a crime that every right-thinking person should condemn. The culprits must face the full weight of the law,” he added.
The government called for calm and emphasized its commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased and maintaining law and order in the community.
